This has a bit of a story with it - I was asked by the very well known magazine, Wedding Flowers & Accessories, to contribute to their 'lookbook' in the magazine which is a double page spread with my arrangements.
I had planned on using all greens for a very woodlandy set of arrangements, i was to design and make a bridal bouquet, a buttonhole, a table arrangement & another arrangement of my choice. I decided in the end to use greens, oranges and some light purple, but just a hint.
so... I had loads of fun arranging then figuring out a mode of transportation as id booked to get the train to London, where the photoshoot was for the Lookbook for the magazine. I made a huge box and stuffed my arrangements in, with water supply and room to not get damaged as i carried this from Scotland on my own!
I got up early in the morning for my 7am train. I had a backpack full of things to do on my 5 hour journey, lunch and a book to read. I covered my big brown box of flowers with a binbag.... so really, i looked very suspicious walking through Edinburgh train station with a box that towered over my head topped with a black bin liner! I got so many weird looks as people tried to figure out my mysterious box that sloshed water! But it did the job.
My journey was great on the way down, relaxing, beautiful countryside views and i treated myself to a couple of hot drinks to go with my book.
As i arrived into London, i had 30 minutes to travel accross the station and to the taxi to the photoshoot location, 20 minutes away. Of course, the train was 13 carriages long so i walked from one end to the other with my big, very heavy & now very wet box of flowers for the photoshoot. It was one of the hottest days too, and i didnt have time to stop and take off my thick jumper. So I get in line at the taxi rank after walking the length of what seemed like the hogwarts train, to then notice i didnt have my backpack! Daftie! By this time i had actually managed to get in the taxi and have him drive for about a minute, so i panick and ask if i can get out (very flustered and hot now) and of course he's annoyed but lets me go without paying (thank you!).
So i run... yes, run back as the water sloshes around dramatically, sweating, struggling with the weight of the box too. i run past a group of ladies on their lunch break looking at me awkwardly as they sip their iced coffees and look amazing in their beautiful work outfits and lovely curled hair.... Its like a Mr. Beam movie!
I get to the train which is thankfully still there, i run down to my carriage and find that my seat is empty! i start to sweat more as i remember my purse with cash for the taxi inside and the bag of moss I had planned on setting an arrangement on.
As i walk out of the train to find someone, theres a lady walking up with my bag so i start waving signaling its mine and she smiles and hands it over :) relief....
So again i run the length of the 13 carriages and get on a taxi again. Really sweating now! The taxi driver is a mental driver. The box is almost tipping and actaully flies about 15cm's in the air as he drives too fast over a speedbump! Eventually i arrive at my destination (a little bruised) and got the flowers there in time... unscathed!!
I had time to kill in London, enough to sit with some booze and relax before heading home again on the 5 hour train. Managed to get stuck next to a very drunk man who enjoyed talking about politics and news articles.... for 3 hours!! It was exhausting, but i made a new friend - shook hands at the end and wished him all the best :)
This photo is me seeing my pictures for the first tim in Tesco where you can get the magazine, i have 4 arrangements in a double page spread of Wedding Flowers & Accessories magazine, £4.99 from stores or online download for less...
